Sexual Assault Allegations

The jury has commenced its second day of deliberations to reach a verdict on the sexual assault allegations against actor Kevin Spacey.

The trial, which began in late June, saw the prosecution emphasizing the combination of the sexual nature of the allegations with Spacey’s privilege.

They aimed to present Spacey as a straight, white, cisgendered, wealthy man with a prestigious reputation, suggesting this might make him more likely to engage in such behavior.

Furthermore, on July 3rd, the prosecution presented a video to the jury containing an interview between the police and one of Spacey’s alleged victims.

The interview depicted the victim recounting an incident of Spacey allegedly groping him while he was driving.

The victim stated that he was not aroused but rather upset, likening Spacey’s behavior to that of a cobra.

In the second testimony, another man came forward, alleging that Kevin Spacey performed a sexual act on him while he was asleep.

According to the aspiring actor, he woke up to find his button and zipper undone, with Spacey having just engaged in the act.

He described the incident as “atrocious, despicable, and disgusting,” emphasizing that it was impossible to refuse consent while asleep.

By mid-July, Kevin Spacey took the stand to defend himself.

He acknowledged having a “somewhat intimate” relationship with the accuser in the first alleged incident.

However, Spacey firmly denied the accusation, stating that the entire story was fabricated from start to finish for monetary gain.

On July 17th, notable figures such as Elton John, David Furnish, and Chris Lemmon, son of Jack Lemmon, testified in support of Spacey’s defense.

In the final stage of the trial, both sides presented their closing arguments.

Prosecuting lawyer Agnew emphasized that history has witnessed individuals who appear benevolent to some but cruel to others.

He asserted that this case involved an “enormous power imbalance” due to a man accustomed to getting his way.

On the other hand, the defense argued that Kevin Spacey had been subject to a trial by social media.

They suggested that three individuals had lied in ways and for reasons known only to themselves, casting doubt on the credibility of the accusers.
