“Love endures even in the face of loss. It may knock you down initially, but genuine love is worth enduring pain for,” she conveyed. “May you experience a love that resonates eternally within your heart, alongside a family (though they may test your patience) that provides support and grounding. Extend to them the same grace you seek from them.”

Acknowledging her shortcomings, she continued, “I recognize my faults. I require copious amounts of forgiveness and I’m unafraid to apologize. Some jokingly refer to me as Lynn ‘Oops, my bad’ Toler.”

How did he die?

Mumford passed away just before Christmas in 2022. The cause of death for the 71-year-old was never disclosed.

There were rumors he had been battling a serious illness.

Toler spoke about finding out about her husband’s death on the podcast Hardly Initiated on July 18.

She remembered their last interaction: he was leaving the house while she was on the treadmill, and they said goodbye.

Hours later, she got a phone call saying he was critically ill in the hospital.

Her son drove her to the emergency room, but sadly, Mumford had passed away by the time they arrived.

According to the Atlanta Black Star, Toler recounted the devastating moment, saying, “When I walked into the emergency room, I told… my name. He was dead when they called. So, the woman comes out. And I said, ‘Just tell me that he’s alive’ and she said, ‘I’m sorry, I can’t do that.’ I said, ‘So, he’s dead? Just tell me. Is he dead?’ ‘I’m sorry, I can’t tell you that. You have to wait to talk to a doctor.’ So, you know he’s dead, but you don’t know he’s dead.”

Adding to the heartbreak of Mumford’s passing was the timing – just days before Christmas, a time typically reserved for family gatherings.

Toler hasn’t disclosed the official cause of death, and it’s uncertain if she ever will.

On January 4, 2023, Toler paid tribute to her husband on Instagram, sharing a photo of them. She wrote, “I am in a million pieces… Beautiful man. Inside and out.”

It seems that Mumford’s family is choosing to keep the details of his passing private.

While the exact cause of his death remains unknown to the public, one thing is clear: he will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
